The sixties were called the swinging sixties, the seventies were for the hippies and the eighties had the punk look, the nineties wore the grunge and today… What’s in fashion especially in London now? According to a few people asked the world is shrinking and becoming more like a globalized village. London fashion is full of eccentricity and creativity and all things possible which reflects the ethos of the city. It is more expressive in London than anywhere in the world and what better way to express it than by means of fashion. There are over seven million people in London and each one does their own little bit to contribute to London fashion.
Out on the London streets you will find people of all kinds of fashion consciousness and bents of mind mingling. All these people pass by one another without ever exchanging a word. There is something called escalator eyes, where a casual once over look is exchanged. This is where the person looks at the person from top to bottom and judges the way he or she is dressed and where they would fit in on the London fashion yardstick.
Everyone out on the streets wanst to judge the other and categorize them based on what they have worn. However, the streets become like a melting pot and throw all of these individuals into one single cauldron.
When you wander down London streets you realize that London fashion has its own statement to tell you about the city and its people. As you wander around markets and High Street shops you will begin to realize that many people don’t come from London but zealously want to follow the London fashion scene.
If you were to give a closer look at the lives and fashion followed by the people of London you would realize that different styles add up to their fashion quotient. You will be surprised to notice that Camden and Vintage shops are extremely popular choices for Londoners. Fashion in London is considered to be an art form and an expression of oneself.
Fashion isn’t determined by the High Street stores but it is decided by the person’s ingenuity and individuality.
